YAROSLAV THE WISE

The film tells the story of the legendary ruler of Kyivan Rus, Prince Yaroslav the Wise, who played an outstanding role in the history of Ukraine. As a lame boy and bullied as a child, he had no idea that he would become the one who would unite the scattered lands around Kyiv and create a powerful medieval state.
His wife, the Swedish princess Ingigerda, played an important role in his rule. Together, they launched a far-sighted matrimonial policy, strengthening international alliances through the marriages of their children to European monarchs. As a result, three of Yaroslav's daughters became queens of great powers - Norway, France, and Hungary - consolidating the influence of Kievan Rus on the political map of Europe.
